What to consider when
shopping for bedroom furniture
1 Measure your space
It’s best to grab measurements of your bedroom before you shop for furniture. It may be good to sketch it out on some graph paper. Make note of doors and windows, because they can affect furniture placement. Record how high your windows are as well as how much clearance your doors need. 2 The bed
The bedroom is named after its most important piece - the bed. If you don’t know where to start with your bedroom furniture, solidify the details about your bed first. Choose the size of your bed, plan where it will go in your room, and decide whether you want one or two nightstands. This will determine about how much space is left in your bedroom for the other furniture.
3 Dressers, nightstands,
and other extras
The “extras” include things like dressers, nightstands, chests mirrors, wardrobes, and drawer units. Think about which pieces will make your bedroom complete. Is your bedroom on the smaller side? Consider a dresser or chest that’s tall and stacked rather than short and wide. If you’re looking to buy something with drawers, we’ll ask you if you prefer inset or overlay. If making the most of space is important to you, ask about a drawer unit to add storage underneath your bed.

4 Style options
